Requests and boundaries

Jo asks for a group photo for a poster. Alex prefers participating without appearing in the image. Respecting that choice allows another way to make the poster.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

A request leaves room for a response. “Would you like to appear in the photo?” must allow “no.” Repeated pressure, ridicule or making participation depend on the photo does not respect that choice.

  2. 2

Alex can say “I prefer a drawing” without explaining why. The group can use illustrations or represent only the work. Permission for one activity does not automatically apply to every future use.

  3. 3

Boundaries also include time, belongings and physical contact. Being polite does not require accepting something uncomfortable or unsafe. Children can seek a trusted adult when a boundary is not respected.

YOUR MISSION

Distinguish a request from pressure and respect a refusal.

Requests and boundaries

Alex wants to help with the poster but does not want an image of Alex in it.
Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

Alex declined appearing in the photo. What respects that answer?

I need a hint

A refusal must be allowed to stand without punishment or pressure. An alternative preserves both the contribution and the stated boundary.

Take it with you

Write a fictional dialogue with a request, refusal and respectful alternative. It may concern lending an object or appearing in a photo. Nobody needs to recount personal experiences.
