START HERE

Your first journey, with a clear map.

Learn at your own pace. Find out where to study, how to keep your discoveries and when to take a project to your computer or GitHub.

Explore Rullst Academy levels

To start in the Rullst Academy, you only need a browser and internet. Installing Python, Rust, Rullst or Git and creating a GitHub account are optional steps for activities outside the platform.

Three places, three roles

Rullst Academy · learn

Read, experiment and check answers. Your account stores completions, XP and achievements. Each track has its own map.

Your computer · create

Extract kits and edit your files. Python programs use Python; Rust programs use Rust and Cargo. Follow the kit’s RUN.md or README.md. Static HTML can open directly in your browser.

GitHub · keep and collaborate

It is an external service for repositories and change history. You choose what to upload, where and who can see it. Learning here does not require publishing.

Your first route

  1. Open a Discovery track. You can try its first lesson as a visitor, without an external account.

  2. To save progress and continue, sign in to your Rullst Academy account. People under 18 use family access guided by a guardian.

  3. Read the mission, do the exercise and select Check my discovery. If something does not match, read the feedback, adjust and try again. Mistakes are part of learning.

  4. Wait for completion confirmation: each lesson records 50 XP once. Your first signed-in visit each UTC day also earns 10 XP without completing lessons. No need to sign out and back in; missing a day never removes XP. My journey shows both totals, the next bonus reset, achievements and unlocked kits.

  5. Use My files and GitHub to record your ideas. The exercise and this editor are separate spaces: editing a file does not complete the lesson.

My account

Where everything is saved

In your Rullst Academy account

Confirmed completions, XP and achievements follow the same account across devices. The first track’s personalized quiz is saved when you complete its final mission. The Rullst Academy does not store every file you edit on your computer.

In this browser

In-progress answers, editor text and remembered destinations stay locally, separately per account. They do not sync to another browser. A private window, cleared data or storage failure can remove these drafts. As a visitor, download a copy before signing in: the draft does not transfer to your account.

In your downloads folder

Download my edited file saves the current editor text. The activity ZIP contains an example, workbook and guide; final kits are starting points, except for the quiz which uses your completed creation. Keep the files you personalize and test a recovery copy.

In the GitHub repository

The file is uploaded only when you confirm and use the upload button. Check the success link and open the file. Without confirmation, do not assume it was saved: check the destination or retry the same attempt without editing.

Choose your workspace

Learn the roles of the tools first. For Rust/Rullst, choose your system’s track below. For Python, the first Python I lesson guides installation. Mac uses macOS; iPhone and iPad do not use that installer. Ubuntu in WSL is separate from native Windows.

Your first GitHub upload

Direct Rullst Academy uploads require an adult account, confirmed email, linked GitHub and access to the lesson. If you do not have a GitHub account, start with the signup track and check the service requirements. Downloads remain an option for learning without publishing.

  1. In My account → GitHub, link your identity. Using GitHub to sign in and authorizing repository writes are different actions.

  2. Create a personal repository on GitHub and initialize it with a README. Choose its visibility; starting private helps you practice at your own pace. Organization repositories do not appear in this integration.

  3. In the lesson, select Authorize repositories on GitHub. Install the app on your linked personal account and choose Only select repositories to select your study repositories.

  4. Return to the lesson, load repositories and choose a destination. You can remember one repository for everything or one per track. You can also change the destination for any upload.

  5. Review text, format, path and visibility. Do not include passwords, tokens, recovery codes or personal data. Check the confirmation and upload; then open the file link.

  6. Each new version goes to a new file in the lesson folder, preserving previous files. Direct upload accepts one text file up to 8 KiB. For complete kits, extract the ZIP and upload the reviewed files manually, following the included guide.

Keeping code on GitHub does not put a website online or run a Rust or Python program. To run it, follow the kit README. Existing content on GitHub remains there if you delete your Rullst Academy account; manage files and the installation on GitHub.

If something does not go as expected

The lesson is locked.

Check that you signed in to the right account and completed earlier lessons in the same track. With family access, the guardian also needs to allow the track. The guide and maps remain available.

I left the page or lost connection.

Return with the same account and browser to recover a local draft, if it was saved. Check My journey for completions. If checking an answer failed, try again after reconnecting: a retry does not duplicate XP.

My repository does not appear.

Check the linked GitHub account, that the repository is personal and that it was selected in the installation. Initialize it with a README and load again. Use Load more when other pages are available. Branch rules may require a manual upload with a pull request.

I am using a shared computer.

Download what you want to keep, clear your drafts in My account and sign out. In the editor, you can also clear just that lesson’s draft. Local drafts are not a vault for secrets.

Words you will see along the way

Repository
A project’s files and history.
Commit
A record of a version, with a message explaining the change.
Branch
A line of development in the repository. It does not create separate privacy.
Pull request
A proposal of changes to review before integrating them.
Terminal and Cargo
The terminal accepts commands. Cargo organizes, builds and tests Rust projects.
Localhost
Your own computer. Opening a page at 127.0.0.1 does not publish it on the internet.

Return to this guide whenever you need it. It is in the menu and lessons, in all three languages.
