A folder groups items. Inside expedicao, a mapas folder can hold mapa-v1.txt and mapa-v2.txt. The path expedicao/mapas/mapa-v2.txt describes where to look; Windows also uses paths with backslashes.

Use names that explain the subject and version. In this project, short lowercase names with hyphens help share examples across systems. This is a project convention, not a universal rule for every file.

The extension is the ending, such as .txt or .png, that usually indicates the expected format. Renaming photo.png to photo.txt does not turn the image into text. The name alone does not guarantee a file is safe either.

For optional practice, create only a new exercise folder in your documents. Do not reorganize system folders or other people’s files. On a phone, the manager may be called Files; menu names vary.
