Save, close, find again

Lumi added a bridge to the map but has not saved yet. The window shows the bridge; the old file does not. Let us investigate that difference before continuing.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

In this fictional editor, saving is manual. Until you save, the bridge exists only in the open edit. Other applications may save automatically: check the completion indicator, destination and account used.

  2. 2

Save updates a file; Save as usually allows another name or destination. Before replacing a version you want to keep, create a new version. Two versions on one device help comparison but do not protect against losing the whole device.

  3. 3

Check the destination and reopen the saved file. Reading the new sentence is stronger evidence than recognizing only the name. Notice errors, full storage or an interrupted connection before closing.

  4. 4

In the Rullst Academy, confirmed progress goes to your account; the editor draft stays in this browser. Downloading saves a file on your device. Sending to GitHub creates a version in your chosen repository after confirmation. These are different destinations; one does not automatically replace the others.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Distinguish an edit from a saved file; check a change by reopening the correct file.

Now it's your turn

Discovery workshop

From change to verification

The new text is already typed in the manual editor. Order the next steps.

  2. Save and check the confirmation
  3. Choose folder and version 2 filename
  4. Reopen the file at the chosen destination
Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

Which evidence best confirms that the bridge was saved?

I need a hint

Choose the destination, save and only then test the reopened file.

Loading your journey…

Take it with you

In a fictional file, write “blue bridge”, save as version 2 and reopen. If you cannot use an editor now, describe the steps and the evidence you would look for.

My files and GitHub

Every lesson can become your own record: code, notes or a practice plan. Saving a file to GitHub is optional and does not change your XP.
