Rullst: a page comes alive · Lesson 02 / 06

A request’s journey

When you open /garden, how does the program know which page to send? Follow the request through the route map.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

A route connects a path to a function that responds. Our map has / for the entrance and /garden for the garden. The path is part of the address.

  2. 2

An ordinary visit requests a page with GET. Here, the route function builds the corresponding response; changing the path may select another function.

  3. 3

Our map has no /moon. The response is 404: page not found. That does not mean the whole internet broke. Compare the three requests.
