When two concerns pull in different directions

The club has a short session and one tablet. It wants everyone to participate and no one to lose a step halfway through. A rule can favor one concern while making another harder. How can we examine that tension?

Let's discover together

  1. 1

Proposal A: turns of equal length. It makes the queue more predictable. Its limit: a turn may end halfway through a step, so we need to consider saving and resuming work.

  2. 2

Proposal B: finish a small step, with a maximum time limit. It supports continuity. Its limit: steps of different lengths make waiting less predictable. The maximum prevents an endless turn but does not eliminate all waiting.

  3. 3

These are two proposals, not the only possibilities. The group could split tasks, prepare parts away from the tablet or combine criteria. A combination also needs examination: does it address the problem or only rename the rule?

  4. 4

Ask who was left out of the conversation. Can someone only attend at another time? A vote tells us the majority’s preference but does not by itself prove that a decision serves everyone. We can justify a provisional choice and agree to review it.

I need a hint

A decision can be justifiable and still leave a difficulty to watch.

Make a table of proposals A and B: what each protects, which difficulty remains and whom to consult. Invent a third alternative and a question you would still need to answer.
