GitHub: discovery journal · Lesson 03 / 06

One discovery, one commit

The journal gained an important instruction: open index.html in a browser. Record this change so your team can understand it later.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

A commit records a project state together with a message. Instead of saying only “changes”, describe the result: “Explain how to open the journal”.

  2. 2

A diff compares versions: lines marked - were removed; lines marked + were added. These signs belong to the comparison and do not need to be added to the file.

  3. 3

In the GitHub browser editor, confirming “Commit changes” creates a commit in the remote repository. On your computer, git add stages changes, git commit records them locally and git push sends commits to the remote.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Review a diff and write a clear commit message.
