HTTPS combines HTTP with TLS protection. In a correctly validated connection, TLS provides confidentiality, integrity and server authentication for the accessed name. It does not hide all network metadata.

The browser checks the certificate and destination name within its trust model. A warning may involve a wrong name, validity or trust chain. Stop at warnings in this course; do not disable validation or install certificates received in messages.

A deceptive site can also have valid HTTPS for its own domain. Check the address and purpose of the action. HTTPS does not certify content honesty or protect data after it reaches a service that misuses it.

Optional practice uses HTTP on 127.0.0.1 inside your computer, with fictional data and no login. It helps observe messages; it does not teach real TLS operation and must not be exposed as a public service.
