Mission: the map that came back

The expedition needs the version with the blue bridge. In this workshop, prepare a copy, simulate file loss and try to recover it. Everything uses fictional files inside the page.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

Saving keeps the working version at its chosen destination. A copy in the same folder may help against a mistaken edit but disappears too if all that storage fails. Protection must match the problem you want to handle.

  2. 2

Sync replicates changes between destinations. Depending on the service, deletion may sync too. Some services provide history or a trash folder; check how to restore and how long versions remain available. Do not assume syncing always equals a recoverable backup.

  3. 3

In this simulation, losing working storage also removes the copy on the same device; sync mirrors the loss without history. The independent, disconnected copy survives. These are exercise rules, not a description of every real service.

  4. 4

Choose expedicao/mapas, version 2, an independent copy and verification by content. Save, copy, simulate loss, restore and check the bridge sentence. Then test a different choice and explain the failure. No workshop button reads or deletes real files.

  5. 5

The workshop report records the current trial; download or copy it to the editor if you want to keep it. The final kit is a starter project to open offline, not a copy of your draft. Sending it to GitHub is optional and does not grant XP by itself.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Build and test a recovery plan; distinguish saving, syncing and keeping an independent copy.

Now it's your turn

Discovery workshop

File rescue workshop

Goal: recover mapa-v2.txt in expedicao/mapas with the blue-bridge sentence. Choose a plan and test it with the buttons below.

The map that came back

Simulation: these buttons only change fictional files on the page. No file on your device is accessed. Choose a plan above and try the steps.

Working storage

No file at this location.

Recovery copy

No file at this location.

Choose all four parts of the plan. Then start by saving a fictional version.

The trial stays on this page and restarts when you reload or change the plan. Download the report to keep results; lesson answers and editor drafts have separate saving.

Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

Why test restoring before a real loss?

I need a hint

Restoring reveals whether the copy can return what you need.

Loading your journey…

How can I tell what I learned?

Use the objectives and challenge below for reflection or a conversation with someone who can help. This is guided self-assessment: it sends no answers, awards no XP and does not automatically verify independence.

In Discovery, explain an idea in your own words and apply it to another simple example. Drawings, speech and adult support are valid. Record what help you needed.

Your transfer challenge

Write three lines: what I want to keep, where a separate copy will live and how I will check recovery. Use only fictional examples; ask someone you trust for help before configuring real backups.

Keep evidence: prediction, attempt, result, an original change and what you still cannot explain. Seek feedback when possible; if studying alone, return later without copying and compare attempts.

Try again another time

After a break, explain the idea without opening the solution and try a different example. Compare with your first attempt: what can you do independently, and where do you need a hint? You may write, speak or draw; choose a way to check the same idea. Record help received, including AI, and revisit the part you need. There is no universal deadline or extra XP for this record.

Completions and XP record Rullst Academy assessments. An introductory track can help everyday life and prepare further study; alone it does not prove complete mastery or professional readiness. Level indicates depth, not age.

Take it with you

My files and GitHub

Every lesson can become your own record: code, notes or a practice plan. Saving a file to GitHub is optional and does not change your XP.
