Rullst: a page comes alive · Lesson 04 / 06

Links that invite

The entrance is ready, but visitors need to find the garden and get back. Build paths that make sense.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

A link uses the a element. Its href attribute gives the destination; the text between the tags tells a person what to expect. These two values can differ.

  2. 2

In <a href="/garden">Visit garden</a>, the browser opens /garden. Writing “Visit garden” does not create the route: the server needs that path.

  3. 3

Text like “Visit garden” explains the destination better than “Click here”. A link back to / helps people keep exploring.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Distinguish link text from the address it points to.

Now it's your turn

Discovery workshop

There and back

The entrance uses /. The garden uses /garden. Connect the two pages.
Mini experiment

Learning simulation: compare cards and check your predictions. The browser is not compiling Rust or starting a server.

<a href="/garden">Visit garden</a>
Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

Does changing only link text change its destination?

I need a hint

The browser uses href as the destination and shows link text to guide the person.
