Idea detective

The robot found three notes. They all sound confident, but make different kinds of claims. Let’s separate what was seen from what was imagined.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

An observation describes something we can check: counting wheels, reading a time, repeating a measurement. It can still contain errors, so we explain how we obtained it.

  2. 2

A preference says what someone likes. “Green is my favorite color” does not need to defeat someone else’s preference.

  3. 3

A hypothesis is a possible explanation we still need to investigate. “Maybe the battery ran out” calls for a test, not instant certainty.

YOUR MISSION

Which note can we check by counting?

I need a hint

Look for an observable quantity; liking a color is a different matter.
