My first quiz with Rullst · Lesson 08 / 08

Your first quiz with Rullst!

You've discovered the pieces. Now you'll put them together in your own creation, play it and download a real Rullst project.

Learning paths10 min

Let's discover together

  1. 1

Choose a question you can check. Mark which option is correct. Ask someone to read it: is it clear?

  2. 2

Test both paths. A correct answer earns the chosen points; an incorrect answer earns zero and another chance.

  3. 3

Finish to save the project in your account. Then download the ZIP: it contains Cargo.toml, Rust code and instructions. Running on your computer is different from publishing on the internet.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Create a title, a question, two different options and a points rule. Test right and wrong answers before finishing.

Now it's your turn

Is my project Rust or Rullst?

It is a Rust project that uses the Rullst 12 framework. Rust is the language the code is written in. Rullst provides tools to define routes, create HTML pages and start the server. Cargo downloads the framework and builds them together.

In the ZIP, start with README.md and explore src/main.rs: comments explain each part in the language selected here. Your quiz text is preserved. Try changing a rule and running cargo test.

Title: 3–40 characters. Question: 6–160. Each option: 1–60. Use different options and a question with a verifiable answer.

Your draft stays in this browser. When you finish the project, it will be saved to your account.

A moment to understand

When someone requests a page, who receives the request and sends the response?

I need a hint

Review: a title of 3 to 40 characters, a clear question and different options. Test both answers in the preview and check the points.

How can I tell what I learned?

Use the objectives and challenge below for reflection or a conversation with someone who can help. This is guided self-assessment: it sends no answers, awards no XP and does not automatically verify independence.

In Discovery, explain an idea in your own words and apply it to another simple example. Drawings, speech and adult support are valid. Record what help you needed.

Your transfer challenge

Show the quiz to someone. Notice where they hesitate and improve one thing. Creating also means listening to users.

Keep evidence: prediction, attempt, result, an original change and what you still cannot explain. Seek feedback when possible; if studying alone, return later without copying and compare attempts.

Try again another time

After a break, explain the idea without opening the solution and try a different example. Compare with your first attempt: what can you do independently, and where do you need a hint? You may write, speak or draw; choose a way to check the same idea. Record help received, including AI, and revisit the part you need. There is no universal deadline or extra XP for this record.

Completions and XP record Rullst Academy assessments. An introductory track can help everyday life and prepare further study; alone it does not prove complete mastery or professional readiness. Level indicates depth, not age.

RECALL · EXPLAIN · EXPERIMENT

Recall workshop: your first app

Choose two or three challenges. Try to recall before opening the explanation. Revisit the lesson if you need to: a mistake shows what is worth exploring.

Free practice, with no grade, XP or certificate. Choices stay only on this page and disappear when you leave. Early readers can work with someone who reads along.

An action, a response

You tap “Turn on”, and a drawn lamp turns yellow. What shows the interaction?

See an explanation

Your tap was the input; the lamp changing was the app's response.

Now try the idea somewhere else

Imagine a button for watering a drawn plant. What would change on screen after a tap?

A new name

You change only the title from “Star quiz” to “Animal quiz”. What does that change do by itself?

See an explanation

This changes the title's content. Questions and rules change only if you edit them too.

Now try the idea somewhere else

If the title were “Garden quiz”, what question would you create?

How does the game decide?

A quiz asks for 2 + 1. Its correct answer is configured as 3. The learner chooses 4. How does the game decide whether it is correct?

See an explanation

The comparison follows the configured rule. If the configured answer itself is wrong, we also need to fix the program.

Now try the idea somewhere else

A quiz says 2 + 1 is 4. Who needs to review that rule? Why?

The right door

An app has /songs for songs and /play for a quiz. Which path would you use to listen to a song?

See an explanation

That route is connected to the songs. The name works because the app was configured to respond at that path.

Now try the idea somewhere else

Invent a route for a drawing album. What should it open?

Three groups of four

Each correct answer earns 4 points. You got 3 questions right. How many points did you earn?

See an explanation

Three groups of four: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12. It is the same idea as 3 × 4.

Now try the idea somewhere else

What about two correct answers worth six points each? Use objects or draw groups to explain.

Two helpful responses

Your quiz shows “You got it!” for both correct and incorrect answers. What should you review?

See an explanation

Check the comparison and both branches. For an incorrect answer, “Look at the clue and try again” helps without pretending it was correct.

Now try the idea somewhere else

Create an error message that helps someone think, without scolding or giving away the whole answer.

Order makes a difference

Which sequence lets a quiz result depend on the learner's choice?

See an explanation

Each step supplies what the next needs. The result comes after the choice and comparison.

Now try the idea somewhere else

In an ordering app, what must happen before calculating the order total?

Revisit the lesson
Test the other branch too

You tested a correct answer in your project and it worked. What still needs checking?

See an explanation

One working branch does not guarantee the other. Testing correct and incorrect answers checks two important parts of the rule, though it does not prove the entire app is bug-free.

Now try the idea somewhere else

Invent a case that might cause trouble, such as two identical answer options. What would you expect the app to do?

What is inside the ZIP?

After completing the first track, you can download the project. What distinguishes that ZIP from installing the Academy shortcut?

See an explanation

These are files you can study, change and run by following the README. The shortcut/PWA makes Academy easier to open; it is not that project. Downloading the ZIP does not publish the app online.

Now try the idea somewhere else

When you open the project, find the README and a code comment. What small change would you like to try?

Take it with you

Show the quiz to someone. Notice where they hesitate and improve one thing. Creating also means listening to users.

Show me the Rust behind it

This part is optional. You don't need to memorize the code to continue.

My files and GitHub

Every lesson can become your own record: code, notes or a practice plan. Saving a file to GitHub is optional and does not change your XP.
