GitHub: discovery journal · Lesson 06 / 06

Your journal finds a home

Bring the expedition together: a journal that opens in a browser, activity materials and a change history you can explain.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

After finishing the track, download the project in My journey. Extract the ZIP and open index.html in a browser. Edit the title and one discovery in a text editor; save and reload the page.

  2. 2

If you can use a GitHub account under the service’s rules, create your own repository, choose its visibility and use Add file → Upload files. Upload the extracted files, review them and confirm the commit. The project README explains each step. Publishing is optional.

  3. 3

You can store activities in folders of one repository or use separate repositories for each project. Avoid replacing same-named files: use activities/35, activities/36 and so on. Signing into the Rullst Academy with GitHub does not publish files or grant write access to your repositories.

  4. 4

For one code or notes file, eligible adult accounts can also use My files and GitHub in this lesson after authorizing repositories. Direct upload handles one file at a time, up to 8 KiB; the complete journal with HTML and CSS uses the manual flow explained here.

✦
YOUR MISSION

Plan a manual publication and organize activities in one or more repositories.

A moment to understand

Does linking GitHub for login automatically publish your activities?

I need a hint

Login identifies you; to publish, you choose files and confirm the destination.

How can I tell what I learned?

Use the objectives and challenge below for reflection or a conversation with someone who can help. This is guided self-assessment: it sends no answers, awards no XP and does not automatically verify independence.

In Discovery, explain an idea in your own words and apply it to another simple example. Drawings, speech and adult support are valid. Record what help you needed.

Your transfer challenge

Open the final project, personalize one discovery and review the files. If you decide to publish, start in your own repository and inspect the commit on GitHub.

Keep evidence: prediction, attempt, result, an original change and what you still cannot explain. Seek feedback when possible; if studying alone, return later without copying and compare attempts.

Try again another time

After a break, explain the idea without opening the solution and try a different example. Compare with your first attempt: what can you do independently, and where do you need a hint? You may write, speak or draw; choose a way to check the same idea. Record help received, including AI, and revisit the part you need. There is no universal deadline or extra XP for this record.

Completions and XP record Rullst Academy assessments. An introductory track can help everyday life and prepare further study; alone it does not prove complete mastery or professional readiness. Level indicates depth, not age.

Take it with you

Open the final project, personalize one discovery and review the files. If you decide to publish, start in your own repository and inspect the commit on GitHub.

At your own pace

My files and GitHub

Every lesson can become your own record: code, notes or a practice plan. Saving a file to GitHub is optional and does not change your XP.
