Here, base is main, the branch receiving changes; head is fix-boundary, the proposed branch. Also check repositories, especially for forks. Reversing direction may show a different comparison.

GitHub’s pull request diff shows head changes since its common ancestor with base. In the lab, git diff origin/main...HEAD helps inspect that view. Three dots in diff do not have the same meaning as ranges in every other Git command.

Fill PULL_REQUEST.md with the requirement, before/after example, changed files, tests actually run and remaining work. Claiming unrun tests creates false evidence. Draft communicates work in progress; it does not replace permissions or branch protection.

Main practice uses a local file. The optional GitHub step is in README: use your own practice repository, review visibility/authorship, push the branch and open the proposal in the interface. Two local identities are not an independent review by another person.
