Robotics: Tico’s garden · Lesson 01 / 06

Robotics: meet the garden robot

Tico is an imaginary robot that carries seeds. Let’s discover what senses, what decides and what moves.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

A sensor measures something in the environment, such as the distance to an object. The measurement becomes an input to the program.

  2. 2

The control program uses instructions to choose actions. An actuator produces a physical action: a motor, for example, can turn a wheel.

  3. 3

A robot can follow simple rules without AI. This path uses imaginary situations in the browser: you do not need to buy parts, install programs or connect circuits.

YOUR MISSION

Distinguish a sensor, a control program and an actuator in a simple robot.

Now it's your turn

Discovery workshop

Robotics: meet the garden robot

Tico has a sensor that measures distance, a program that tells it to stop and a motor that turns the wheels.
Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

Does Tico need AI to follow a stopping rule?

I need a hint

A written rule can already connect a reading to an action.
