Numbers that tell stories

Lia is organizing seeds. Numbers help count what exists, compare groups and notice when nothing remains.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

Count each object once. If there are none, the quantity is zero: zero is a number too.

  2. 2

One ten groups 10 ones. In 24, the 2 represents two tens and the 4 represents four ones: 20 + 4.

  3. 3

To compare 24 and 19, compare the tens first. Two groups of ten already exceed one group of ten and nine ones.
