Mission: a notebook with history

Your final project is small but has an explainable path: authorship, reviewed changes, a branch idea and a recorded correction.

Let's discover together

  1. 1

Download the kit into a new folder outside other repositories. It contains fictional data and a guide; it has no .git and performs no automatic installation or commits. Use SETUP.md if installation is still needed.

  2. 2

Follow GUIDE.md in stages, reading status and diff between steps. The full guide repeats the workshop and adds a remote in another folder on your computer. That remote is not an off-device backup and does not publish online.

  3. 3

Also make your own version: change the notebook theme, write messages explaining intent and test a correction with revert. In workbook.md record prediction, observation and what remains in history.

  4. 4

Rullst Academy saves a Markdown draft and publishes one file per confirmed operation. The ZIP is starter material without your edits. Sending a notebook through the panel does not transfer your computer’s .git history; use Git to send commits when sharing that history.

Your change laboratory

This page’s experiments show prepared outputs. To run real commands, use a new practice folder on your computer and the guide included in “Download activity”. Read the instructions before each command.

My files and GitHub

The editor below saves your Markdown notes in this browser. Download a copy to take them to another device. Sending that file to GitHub does not send your computer’s .git history.

YOUR MISSION

Create a repository with readable history and demonstrate recovery.

Now it's your turn

Discovery workshop

Read the state, choose the next step

Imagine a small repository with exactly three ordinary commits. Reverting its latest commit finishes without conflict. Count the new history and choose what to share through Rullst Academy’s panel. Then apply the ideas to your own notebook. This prediction runs no commands.
Build your answers and check when you are ready.
A moment to understand

What demonstrates understanding beyond copying commands?

I need a hint

Commit count and visibility do not replace explanation and evidence.

Loading your journey…

How can I tell what I learned?

Use the objectives and challenge below for reflection or a conversation with someone who can help. This is guided self-assessment: it sends no answers, awards no XP and does not automatically verify independence.

In Foundations, change an example, predict results, check a normal case and an error case, and explain your choices. If you need help, identify what to practice again.

Your transfer challenge

Show a change, its staging selection, commit and correction in your notebook. Explain what a collaborator needs to continue. Keep an independent copy; GitHub publication remains optional.

Keep evidence: prediction, attempt, result, an original change and what you still cannot explain. Seek feedback when possible; if studying alone, return later without copying and compare attempts.

Try again another time

After a break, explain the idea without opening the solution and try a different example. Compare with your first attempt: what can you do independently, and where do you need a hint? You may write, speak or draw; choose a way to check the same idea. Record help received, including AI, and revisit the part you need. There is no universal deadline or extra XP for this record.

Completions and XP record Rullst Academy assessments. An introductory track can help everyday life and prepare further study; alone it does not prove complete mastery or professional readiness. Level indicates depth, not age.

Take it with you

Show a change, its staging selection, commit and correction in your notebook. Explain what a collaborator needs to continue. Keep an independent copy; GitHub publication remains optional.

At your own pace

My files and GitHub

Every lesson can become your own record: code, notes or a practice plan. Saving a file to GitHub is optional and does not change your XP.
